Otto's Commitment to Authentic Cuisine
Otto's Barbecue & Hamburgers, a cherished Houston institution with a rich history dating back to 1951. Founded by Otto and Annie Sofka, this family-owned business began as a humble grocery store on Memorial Drive, offering canned goods and sundries. Yet, it didn't take long for Ms. Annie's ground fresh hamburgers to captivate the locals. Within two years, Otto transformed the grocery store into a bustling eatery, known for its "standing room only" atmosphere and exceptional food.
As the years passed, Otto's ventured into the barbecue business, and just like their hamburgers, it quickly gained a reputation as the best in town. With a commitment to old family recipes, top-quality ingredients, and a dedication to scratch cooking, Otto's legacy has been passed down through three generations.
Though the world has evolved over 75 years, Otto's dedication to serving authentic, country-style food remains unchanged. Our Certified Angus burgers are ground fresh daily, and our briskets are slow-smoked over hickory logs for 18 hours. Notably, Otto's has had the honor of hosting distinguished guests like President George Bush, Liberace, George Foreman, and many more, but our most cherished guests are our patrons…first timers and decades long fans alike.
Whether you're discovering Otto's for the first time or have been a loyal customer for half a century, Otto's Barbecue & Hamburgers extends a warm welcome to you. Join us for a dining experience that combines time-honored traditions with the best of ole'-fashioned, country cooking.
